Welcome to Mapleleaf Printing - resources for instructing God's people!

In His Footsteps, the title given to this 2-year, application-based Catechism instruction series designed for 7th & 8th graders, is the result of 25 years as an LCMS Lutheran Pastor and 25 years of writing, modifying, rewriting, and refining a down-to-earth Catechism series that engages students, yet continues to teach the basic doctrines of our Lutheran heritage.

As you look at the various components, you will find material that is easy to teach, and, most importantly, easy for students to grasp.

Having used this material over the years, I'm convinced that it relates to our students and keeps them engaged - which is a challenge when technology is inches away, right in their pockets. Pastor Randy Jeppesen

The Outlines are a spiral-bound set of all you need to teach the class. If you choose, you can read the Outline materials as printed. Or you can use the Outlines as your basic guide and adjust the wording so that it "fits" better with your typical terminology and sentence structure. The Outlines are written for the new teacher and the seasoned teacher. All the information contained in the Class Handouts is incorporated into the Outlines at the appropriate places so you aren't switching from book to book.

Because one can't teach everything you'd like to teach in the classroom, the Workbooks were designed for students to dig into the Word during the week. Each lesson asks about 15-18 questions directly out of the NIV Bible. The "Turning on the Light" section that follows the basic questions encourages students to apply what they have just read to their personal lives, to "today-related" questions. It's all part of the application-based, practical learning provided throughout In His Footsteps.

In His Footsteps is a 2-year series designed for 7th and 8th graders. Within each series, there are Outlines for teaching the six chief parts of the NIV Catechism, Class Handouts which are a spiral-bound set of pages for the student's use during class time, Workbooks which are an "at home" activity as students dig into the Word in their practical study of John and I John in year one and Luke in year two. Both series also include copy-ready weekly quizzes, tests for use after each major section, and a final test.

It would appear that the Handouts are loose-leaf materials, but such is not the case. Rather than have loose pages stuffed into a folder, I've chosen to spiral bind the pages for each series into a 7 x 10 book. Each week, the students use about 4-6 pages in their Handouts during the class period. My typical approach is to have the students read the statements and provide what they believe is the correct answer. Then, I follow that with further discussion, when needed, to expand their basic knowledge.

Beyond all the information available in the Outlines, extra, supplementary materials are also available. Weekly quizzes, tests after each major section, and a final test are available for purchase as a copy-ready set. Beyond those materials, the pages I use as my "Record Book," which includes areas for the different aspects of the "Point System" explained on the "extras" page, a section to record the completion of each part of their memory work and their Workbook lessons are available in print or pdf versions.
